A Letter from the President (June 2011)

Hello to all members of the H Class Association:

After a very long winter, summer is thankfully right around the corner.  Boats are ready to go in the water and we can finally think about a summer of sailing.

On July 29th , 30thand  31st, Quissett Yacht Club will host the 2011 H Class Championship Regatta.  The Association annual meeting will be held at 8 AM on Sunday, August 2, prior to the start of the Sunday races.  We are thrilled to be hosting the regatta and look forward to a great turnout this year.

As most of your already know, Ballentine Boats is now building  the Doughdish.  Please visit the H Class website to read a letter from Amy Ballentine of Ballentine Boats (http://www.herreshoff12.org/node/52)

The Executive Committee has been working this winter on a few projects:

  • We have been working to update the mailing list with proper emails so that we can communicate with you in the most efficient manner.  We are hoping to use email as a method of communication if we have your individual permission to do so.
  • At our annual meeting, the committee voted to rename the championship trophy the “William G Harding Championship  Trophy”.  This trophy is given to the winner of the Regatta each summer.
  • Website update:  the website (www.herreshoff12.org) is up and running.  You can even pay your dues online now, using PayPal.

Thank you to all of the members of the Executive Committee for their help with ongoing projects.  The current list of the fleet delegates is listed on the website.  If you have any questions about H-12 activities, please contact your fleet delegate.  If you are not part of a fleet, Rob Hurd is the At-Large Fleet Delegate.

This letter also serves as your 2011 H Class Association dues notice.  Please mail in your dues as soon as you can, or you can pay online at the H Class website (www.herreshoff12.org).  The dues are important in keeping our Association going!  Additionally, if you wish to be contacted by email, please check the box that gives us permission to do so.

We look forward to greeting you at the entrance to Quissett Harbor in July.  We hope that you will all come out for the regatta.
